Adelphi University Athletics

Hanigan completed his Adelphi career as one of the top defensemen in Panther Lacrosse History. An honorable mention All-American in 1965, the talented defender was captain of the ’65 team and was the VP of the Men’s Athletic Association and a member of the Chi Sigma fraternity at Adelphi. Following his graduation from Adelphi, Hanigan attended Officers Candidate School for the United States Marine Corps. Commissioned a 2^nd Lt. In May of ’66, he spent 16 months in Vietnam rising to the rank of captain.
