Lang made an indelible mark on the soccer field both as a coach and a player. A member of the 1974 Division II National Championship Team, Lang was a three year captain of the squad.
The Panthers earned a bid to the NCAA playoffs in each of his four years on the team, including the first Division I bid in 1976. He had a very successful career tallying career totals of 105 points, 41 goals and 23 assists, which are all in the top-10 all-time list.
Following his professional career, he served as an assistant coach at Adelphi until he was named Hofstra’s head men’s soccer coach in 1982. Under Lang’s coaching, Hofstra posted four straight winning seasons and captured the 1985 conference championship.
In 1987, Lang returned to his alma mater to lead the women’s soccer program. The 1989 team went 10-7-1 and earned a first-ever Division II playoff bid.
