Windischmann was a four year member of the men’s soccer team.  While a member of the Panthers, he played both midfield and sweeper and was an All-New York State selection for four years, as well as an All-America honoree in 1985.  He selected to participate in the Senior Bowl in 1986 and was named Defensive MVP of the game.
 
In 1983, Windischmann was a member of the U.S. National Youth Team which played in the Gronotkin Tournament in Leningrad, U.S.S.R.  That same year, Windischmann was a member of the U.S. Team in the World University Games in Kobe, Japan and participated in both the 1985 (Bronze Medal Team) and 1986 (Gold Medal Team) National Sports Festivals.
 
Captain of the 1988 U.S. Olympic team, Windischmann scored a goal versus Argentina in the Seoul Games.   In 1990, he was named Captain of the U.S. World Cup team which participated in Italy.  In both 1990 and 1993, he played on the U.S. team which won bronze and silver medals respectively in indoor tournaments.  He played 56 games for U.S. National Team and was four-year captain of the squad.  In 1989, he was named as the U.S. National Team Player of the Year.
