Just three short seasons after Davies took over the helm of the program, he led the Panthers to the 1966 Knickerbocker Conference title and the team advanced to the NCAA playoffs. In addition to the above successes, Davies' has guided Panther squads to appearances in the NCAA Tournament in 1972, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1986, 1989 and 1992, 1996, 1997 and 1999.

In 1993, Adelphi also won the NYCAC, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the NCAA Northeast Region Championships to advance to the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament, where they finished in second place tie. The final 1993 record of 32-17 set an Adelphi school record for most wins in a season and the squad ranked ninth in the country in the final College Baseball Magazine poll. For his accomplishments, Davies was named NYCAC and NCAA Northeast Region Coach of the Year.

In 1999, the Panthers received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional and swept through the championships, claiming their third title in four years and advancing to the World Series.  At the World Series, the Panthers claimed a fifth-place finish among the eight-team field.

In both 1996 and 1997, Davies' nine captured the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) and NCAA Division II Northeast Region Championships before advancing to the World Series. In 1996, the Panthers closed the season with a best-ever fifth place ranking in the final College Baseball Magazine poll. Davies collected NCAA Northeast Region Coach of the Year honors following the season. The Panther mentor also earned Northeast Region Coach of the Year honors in 1997 and 1999.

In addition to his impressive won-loss record, Davies has also led Adelphi to 12 Knickerbocker Conference titles, five NYCAC titles, three ECAC titles, 33 winning seasons, 19 post-season tournaments and has had numerous players sign professional contracts, including Steve Lukas (1995) with Sioux City, Dom Gatti (1993) and Dan Mascia (1992) with the Texas Rangers, Scott Davis (1990) with the Kansas City Royals, Helmut Bohringer (1989) with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tim Byrnes (1987) with the Kansas City Royals.
