In his senior year, he added 22 assists boosting the team to an even season, finishing with a 4-4 record. Following his career at Adelphi, Piper played lacrosse for the Long Island Lacrosse Club. Piper has run the Boston Marathon five times, reaching the finish line in less than 3 hours and completed a 54-mile race from London to Brighton, England in 1981 and 1985.

After graduating Adelphi, Piper married and went into the Marine Corps. After serving active duty in Virginia and North Carolina, he returned to Long Island to begin his corporate career with the Continental Can Company in New York City.
