Hall of Fame
Merz joined the men’s Basketball team during the 1966-67 season and continued to play up through the 1968-69 season. During his three years, he averaged double figures in each of his seasons and finished his career with 1,050 points. An outstanding jump shooter, he scored a career-high 36 points vs. Southern Connecticut State during the 1967-68 season. He was an ECAC All-East selection in both his junior and senior seasons.
He holds two records; he is third in single season points per game at 22.2, and he is also 10th in career free throw percentage with .777.
