Montgomery served as the head men’s soccer coach from 1978-2007. He has guided the team to seven NCAA Championship playoffs and his players have earned nine All-America selections. In addition, forty-two All-Region selections have been earned by Montgomery players.
In 1978 and 1987, Montgomery was honored as the New York Region “Coach of the Year.”
During his time at Adelphi, he also served as an assistant coach for the United State Youth Soccer Association East Region team and a coaching school instructor for th Long Island Junior Soccer League. Since 1991, he served on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Committee and the NCAA men’s soccer committee.
Montgomery was a member of the 1972 and 1973 Adelphi teams which participated in the NCAA playoffs. Prior to enrolling at Adelphi, he earned All-America honors at Nassau Community College.
Mongtomery earned a Bachelor’s degree from Adelphi in 1974 and a master’s in 1982. In addition to coaching, he served as the Associate Athletic Director.
