He also helped his team to the 1972 win in the indoor mile relay at NCAA’s and a first place finish at the Penn Relays in the Championship of America heat, the school’s first ever.

Davis was a six-time All-American including a three-time CTC Outdoor 400 meter champion and record holder. Along with fellow inductees, Larry Ross, Dennis Walker and Clyde McPherson, they set the indoor mile relay world record twice within eight days.  On an 11-lap track at College Park, Maryland at the CYO Invitational meet on January 14th, 1972, set the world record of 3:13.7. Just over a week later, they bested their own mark in Philadelphia clocking in at 3:12.2.
