Hailing from Farmingville, N.Y., Lauren Lopez began her collegiate career at Adelphi in the fall of 2003. A standout two-sport athlete at Sachem High School, she earned All-League, All-County and All-Long Island accolades. Lopez brought her talents to Garden City and was one of the top soccer and lacrosse players to wear a Panther uniform.

A four-year member of the women’s soccer team, Lopez helped guide the Panthers to a 60-12-10 overall record in four seasons while recording an impressive 37-11-3 East Coast Conference record under head coach Rich Ilsley. She played in 81 games with 65 starts and compiled 20 goals and four assists for 44 points. The four-year span included three trips to the NCAA Tournament, where the team was crowned Northeast Regional champions twice. In addition, the team was runner-up in 2004 after falling in a one-goal game to Metro State. That season, the squad set the school record for wins with 20.

Along with helping the Panthers win the ECC Tournament in 2006, Lopez was named to the All-Conference Second Team, her second selection in as many years. That same season, while juggling a full course load and competing in the fall and winter seasons, Lopez was recognized for maintaining exceptional grades in the classroom and was named a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-District honoree.

As a midfielder for the lacrosse team, Lopez was an integral part of the success that the squad enjoyed early on in its short history. She played in 81 games, made 65 starts and the team recorded a 56-6 record over her four-year tenure. She was a part of the first two National Championships in the history of the sport at Adelphi in 2004 and 2006 while earning a spot in the final four in 2005.

She garnered a slew of awards that included four IWLCA First Team All-American honors, four IWLCA First Team All-Region selections, three-time ECAC All-Star kudos and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team and the ECC All-Conference First Team twice. She was also named a Tewaarton Watch List nominee and was recognized by womenslacrosse.com with DII Rookie Team status.

Lopez was among the top-three point earners each year while leading the team in 2006 with an impressive 75 points on 58 goals and 17 assists. Her totals over her career have left the lasting impression on the Adelphi record books. Over her career, she amassed 259 points, 200 goals, 59 assists, 129 ground balls and averaged 4.18 points per game.

Lopez was named the Adelphi Female Athlete of the Year on two occasions and was also crowned the East Coast Conference Woman of the Year in 2007.

She is currently a physical education teacher in the Roslyn School District and coaches lacrosse at Cold Spring Harbor.
