Scott was a member of the men’s basketball team from 1953-56. During his three years, he did not miss a single game as the starting guard. His senior year, he co-captained the team and accumulated a total of 887 career points and 349 rebounds to go with a 37-30 record.
Gilbert graduated in 1956 with a Bachelors Degree in government and then enjoyed a distinguished career as both a writer and an adjunct journalism and english professor.
Between 1967 and 1973 he was an active member in the university’s fund raising efforts. During that time he served as Chairman of the Annual Fund Raising Committee and succeeded in raising the largest amount ever raised to that time. For his efforts, as well as his remarkable professional accomplishments, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1981.
