Price was an extremely accomplished runner in high school as well as during his years at Adelphi. A 13 time All-American, he specialized in the 440-yard dash/400m dash, 600-yard dash, and the 1600m relay earning titles among prestigious meets such as the Millrose Games, U.S. Olympic Invitational, IC4A’s, Collegiate Track Conference, and the Canada-USA-USSR meets. As a freshman, he claimed the individual NCAA Division II 440-yard title with a time of 46.99. Price was also part of the winning 1976 and ’77 NCAA Championship 1600m relay team. He still holds the indoor records for the 440-yard dash (47.8), 400m dash (47.74, 500-yard run (57.3) and the outdoor 400m dash (45.77).
