As a centerfielder for the Panthers, she was twice named a Division I second team All-American (1984 and 1985) and a first team all-region selection.  She helped Adephi to three NCAA Tournament berths, including back-to-back NCAA Division I College World Series appearances in 1984 and 1985 with the team finishing fifth each year.  For her efforts, she was twice named to the NCAA DI World Series All-Tournament Team.
She still remains in the top-ten in Adelphi career runs scored, hits, triples, stolen bases and walks.

Dooley graduated from Adelphi in 1985 with a BA in physical education.  She was a member of the USA Fastpitch Team which competed in the 1984 Olympics as an exhibition sport.  They captured the gold medal.
