A three sport athlete, Walter “Whitney” Grossman attended Adelphi University from 1956-61. His specialties came in three forms; tennis, squash and bowling. He was a captain on the tennis and bowling squads as well as a top performer year in and year out in each sport. The 1956 bowling team was the first in history as he was a part of it and a consistent high average bowler. As a member of the squash team, he was part of a squad that won two Metropolitan Championships.
           
Grossman also collected top honors at the Adelphi men’s Athletic Association Awards Dinner by being honored as the Most Valuable Player in each of his three sports. Additionally, he was the head of the Men’s Athletic Association as well as the President of Omicron Pi.
