Kavner played lacrosse in each of his four years at Adelphi. On the freshman team, he distinguished himself by scoring 14 goals. As a sophomore, with 13 goals and two assists, Kavner was instrumental in the team’s 10-2-1 record. In his junior and senior years, he continued to score in double digits with 12 and 15 goals, respectively. A member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity, Kavner distinguished himself both on and off the field. Selected for inclusion in Who’s Who Among American College Students, he was the president of the Accounting Society and a member of the Eta Chi Alpha honor society.
 
Kavner obtained a B.B.A. in business management from Adelphi in 1965 and attended the Advanced Management Program at Dartmouth College. He went on to a successful career in business
