Allen Boyce, a graduate of Boys High School, a perennial track power in Bedford-Stuyvestant Brooklyn, New York, arrived at the Adelphi University campus in 1950 and immediately established himself as a dominate force on the men's cross-country and track teams.

He helped the Panthers to repeat titles in the Indoor and Outdoor Small Metropolitan College Championships and the Greater New York Conference title as well as the inaugural Outdoor Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) title in 1953, and again in 1954.

Allen, aka "Big Al", was primarily in a middle distance athlete, competing primarily in the quarter and half mile races. He also anchored the mile relay, often dubbed the "melting-pot" mile relay, with fellow Hall of Famers, Bob Alexander and Mort Diamond and participated in the spring medley as well. Along with Alexander, Diamopnd and Bob Jacobs, the quartet captured first place in the College Class Mile event at Penn Relays. He repeated to anchor the same winning relay in 1954.

Despite sustaining injury during his junior year while playing a "pick-up" basketball game in Woodruff Hall, he was an integral part of the team's success. Allen captured the MET title in the 440. Boyce took first at the Outdoor CTC Championships in the half-mile in a new school record of 1:59.5. His anchor leg on the mile relay helped secure the school's win over Montclair State.

During his senior year, Allen was still named captain of the indoor and outdoor squads. He was a member of Alpha Beta Fraternity and the Men's Athletic Association.
