Pecora is the head coach of the Hofstra University basketball team.  A 1983 graduate of Adelphi University, he received his Bachelors Degree in physical education and health.  He became the 10th head coach in Pride history on March 28, 2001 after spending the previous four years as an assistant. 
 
Over the last 11 years with Pecora on the staff, Hofstra has been the winningest program in the Metropolitan New York region. During that span, he has been honored as the region’s Coach of the Year by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA), the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), and the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY).
 
Pecora also had previous experience in running a program, serving as the head basketball coach at the State University of New York at Farmingdale from 1989-1992.  At Farmingdale, the Rams posted a 62-24 record, including the Region 15 Championship, a top 20 ranking, and an appearance in the 1992 National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament.
