Mr. Eitel is one of the first inductees to be inducted under the Legends category.  A diverse, five sport athlete, he played baseball, threw the hammer and the javelin for the track and field team, lacrosse, squash where he lettered three times and football in which he captained during his senior year.  Upon leaving Adelphi in 1953, Eitel joined the Marines and became a pilot.  While serving his country, he served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and earned 28 medals, badges and ribbons including nine air medals and the Bronze Star.  He was also awarded the Vietnamese Medal of Honor and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.  Further, Eitel was selected to be the Presidential Pilot of Marine-1, the helicopter for President Eisenhower and Kennedy.
