Lee was a standout sprinter and long jumper for the Panthers during his four years. He competed everything from the 100-yard to the 440-yard dashes, to the 440-yard and 880-yard relay teams and the long jump. Lee is the current Adelphi Long Jump record holder with a leap of 24 ft 6.5 inches.
A six-time All-American, he helped his nationally ranked mile relay team to the 1971 indoor and outdoor titles and defended them both the next year. He also finished 5th in the 440-yard dash at the 1974 Indoor Nationals. Additionally, he ran on the winning 880-yard Championship of America relay team at the Penn Relays and also the mile relay team which edged out Division I powerhouses like Villanova and Tennessee.
