Dr. Tendy was an instrumental part of starting the Women’s Swim Team during the 1966-67 season. As a senior, she qualified for and competed in the first Women’s National Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Northern Illinois in the 50, 100 and 200-yard Freestyle events. After graduating with a B.A. in physical education, Tendy went on to coach and take part in aquatics at Penn State University, Wellesley College, University of Idaho and West Point. She obtained her Doctorate in Education/Instruction Leadership from St. John’s University in 1998.
