DiPrima competed in athletics at a time when women’s athletics were not fully recognized as a varsity sport. Women’s sports were often run through the physical education department and/or intramural departments at the time and were not allowed the benefit of varsity competition. Despite these obstacles, DiPrima thrived and made a name for herself in field hockey, basketball and softball while also participating in club European handball and bowling. From 1966-70, she was an essential part of the women’s field hockey team, not losing a single game in any of the four years of competition. She was voted the MVP of the basketball team her senior year as well.
