Boston, Mass. - After qualifying for the finals race with a seventh place finish in the preliminaries yesterday, the Adelphi University men's indoor track and field 4x800 meter relay team finished fifth today to medal at the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships held at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
The quartet of
Anthony Seara,
Anthony Coccia,
Michael Grady, and
Sean Grady claimed seventh place yesterday after turning in a combined time of 7:38.18 during heat three of the 4x800 races. As previously mentioned, the time qualified for seventh best and pushed the team into the finals race this afternoon.
Today, the relay turned in the fastest time in program history since 1979 with a finish of 7:30.89 to earn fifth place, ahead of teams such as Brown, Fordham, Bucknell, and LaSalle. Coppin State won the race by .01 seconds over St. Joseph's (Pa.) at 7:29.82 while Liberty and Georgetown took third and fourth place respectively.
NOTES- The 1979 team of Wason, Smith, Severino, and Williams posted a time of 7:30.8 during their best race.
