Mary Camarano highlighted the evening for the Adelphi University track and field program at the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championships with a conference title. The title helped the women finish sixth at the Championship with the men finishing eighth.
Camarano originally claimed second place during the preliminary race of the 60 meter hurdles behind a time of 9.28 before taking the title in the finals race with a winning time of 8.91. The junior is a first time champion in the event.
In a similar distance,
Aleisha Jeffers and
Ena Otaka helped earn the Panthers points during the 60 meter dash. Otaka finished higher during the preliminary race after clocking in 7.87 before Jeffers at 7.90 for seventh. However, in the finals race, Jeffers finished in sixth at 7.91 with Otaka taking seventh at 7.93. Jeffers also added a point in the 200 meter dash with a 26.17 time for eighth place.
Nearly matching Camarano with a title was
Angela Mongitore in the 400 meter dash. Mongitore fell short of her season best, however, she was able to claim second place with a 55.94 time. Her season best is currently registered at 55.27. Also claiming second place in an event was
Nicole Elarde behind a 2:18.39 time in the 800 meter.
Christina Dutcher added a seventh place finish in the event by clocking in at 2:22.65.
On the men's side,
Luke Pascale posted six points in the 400 meter dash by finishing in 50.35 for third place. Pascale also competed in the 60 meter hurdles, where he took fifth place in the preliminary at 8.44. He bettered the finish in the finals at fourth place with a 8.32.Â
In the 800 meter dash,
Sean Grady posted a time of 1:55.59 for fourth place. Meanwhile, his brother,
Michael Grady, finished fifth in the 1,000 meter by timing in at 2:32.35. He also added a fourth place finish in the mile at 4:19.47 to total nine points on the night.
Notes:
- Mongitore participated in the Indoor and Outdoor NCAA Track and Field Championships last season.
- The NCAA Champsionships are scheduled for March 11-12 in Kentucky
