Track and Field Continues Indoor Season At Villanova Open On Friday

Staten Island, N.Y. - A first place finish for the men's and a lower NCAA provisional qualifying time for the women's highlighted Friday's Villanova Open for the Adelphi University track and field team at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Mary Camarano came away with second place finishes in both the preliminaries and final of the 60 meter hurdles by improving from 8.79 to 8.78 from the first race to the next. In the 400 meter, the junior claimed ninth place behind a 59.39 finish. Also helping the women's effort was a sixth place finish from Angela Mongitore in the 800 meter after a 2:19.36 while a seventh place time of 3:10.45 was posted by Seona Maloney. Nicole Elarde finished just behind Maloney after a 3:12.30 finish.

Freshman Michael Grady claimed the lone victory of the day for the Panthers by running a 2:28.05 time in the 1,000 meter. In the same race, Anthony Coccia claimed ninth at 2:34.52. Also picking up a ninth place finish, this time in the 800 meter, was Daniel Morley at 1:59.33. On the hurdles, Luke Pascale qualified for the final race with a preliminary run of 8.50 to tie for seventh before claiming eight in the final at a time of 8.58. Travis Mielko put forth a notable finish of seventh place in the weight throw behind a distance of 13.62 meters.

The Brown and Gold return to the same venue on Friday with the scheduled Spartan Regional Preview, currently set for a 3:00 pm start.
