Staten Island, N.Y. - Continued races with NCAA provisional times helped the Adelphi University women's track and field team claim eighth place among 20 teams at the Spartan Regional Preview on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex while the men ranked 17th out of 19 teams.
Mary Camarano continued to improve upon her 60 meter hurdle time with a 8.72 performance in the finals to earn third place. During the preliminaries, she earned a spot in the finals after clocking in at 8.84. Her finals' time improved by 0.06 following last week's effort. Additionally, the junior won her heat and claimed second place during the 200 meter with a time of 25.55.
Joining Camarano with a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time was
Angela Mongitore, a two-time NCAA competitor during the 2014-15 academic year. The senior turned in a 56.48 time during the 400 meter to earn placement on the list and give the Panthers a second place finish.
Nicole Elarde also highlighted the effort on the day by contributing 10 points behind an 800 meter finish of 2:23.25.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team also aided in the Brown and Gold finish with 10 points.
Aleisha Jeffers and
Gabriela Saltos joined Mongtiore and Camarano to combined for a 4:04.26 finishing time.
On the men's side,
Luke Pascale turned in a personal best of 23.15 during the 200 meter to earn fifth place. He also netted a 8.76 time for fourth in the 60 meter hurdles.
The Panthers return to the Ocean Breeze Complex for the third straight week this Friday at 11:00 am for the NYC Gotham Cup.
