Bethpage, N.Y. - Picking up from where she left off last season,
Isabel Marsh dusted the field in the Women's 5K at the annual Panther Invitational Friday at Bethpage State Park.
Marsh's 18:15.10 was over a full minute better than last year's run of 19:37.1 at the Panther Invitational that earned her a third-place finish.
In fact, Marsh's time was a new meet record by over fifteen seconds, thereby breaking University of Delaware's Diana Dunn's mark of 18:31.4 from 2018.
Sumaira Mayan was also acknowledged in the post-meet festivities, after her career-best 19:40.80 slotted the junior within the Top 10.
Lucia Kutner set a PR with a 20:55.40 and
Maya Suarez debuted with a 21:02.10 to help the 'Cats to a third-place team finish.
The men's team placed fifth out of 14 teams in the 8k field, led by
Diego Llanos' 11th-place finish of 26:45.50.
Christopher Leonard (27:17.20),
Christian Bien-Aime (27:31.80) and
Matthew Paolo (27:37.00) all PR'd on the day and placed among the Top 30 runners at the competition.
The 'Cats now have two weeks to prepare for their next outing at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 16 in North Dartmouth, Mass.
