Manchester, NH - The Adelphi University finished exactly as predicted, placing sixth as a team at the Northeast 10 Conference Championship meet, held Sunday on the campus of Saint Anselm College.
Topping the field - also as predicted - was Southern Connecticut, who scored a lean 42 en route to their second title in three years. Bentley was the second place overall team and Saint Michael's rounded out the top three.
The Panthers were led by senior captain,
Lucia Kutner, who crossed the tape in a time of 25:08, to place 14th, out of 92 competitors. Close behind was junior
Maya Suarez, who finished two places later in 25:26 to beat her 2024 finish of 29th.
Newcomer
Christina Sakellis was the third member of the Brown and Gold to finish, landing in the top-25 with a 20th place showing for her first NE10 championship race. Her time of 25:35 was the fourth fastest among freshmen, and the top first year on the Panther squad. The five point scorers were rounded out by
Natalie Niselson (30th) and
Caleigh Hopkins (33rd) as the duo crossed within 19 seconds of each other.
The team will now prepare for the NCAA East Region Championship, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8 in Hopkinton, NH. The meet will be hosted by Franklin Pierce.
