Hopkinton, NH - Both the men's and women's cross country programs concluded the 2025 campaign with ninth place showings at the NCAA Division II East Region Championship, hosted by Franklin Pierce on Saturday.
Men's Highlights:
- Max Krapf and Deven Bernardin both finished inside the top-25 to earn All-Region honors. Krapf led the Panther pack with a time of 32:59.53 to place 17th in a field of over 100 competitors. This was also the pair's first collegiate 10K attempts, as Bernardin did not race in the 2024 cross country season.
- Bernardin clocked in at 33:10.5 to take 21st overall. Earlier in October, he raced a 26:52.5 8K on the same course and placed 34th.
- Fellow first year Mosiah Calderon was the third competitor to cross the tape, in a time of 34:54.26, to place 58th. Landing in the top-60 was sophomore Jack Riegger who finished five seconds behind Calderon.
Women's Highlights:
- Maya Suarez was the top finisher on the women's side, but fell just outside the top-25, placing 31st in the 6K event. Her time of 23:57.47 was two minutes faster than her NE10 Championship outing and stands four seconds from her personal best (23:53.1).
- Lucia Kutner came in second for the Panthers, posting a time of 24:19.86 to land 38th for her final collegiate 6K.
- Rounding out the top four was Caleigh Hopkins and Christina Sakellis, who finished within one place of each other and were still five seconds apart. Sakellis- who earned All-Conference honors a week ago - was 48th as Hopkins raced to a new personal best 24:44.63 to finish 47th.
Southern Connecticut won both the men's and women's races, after also securing a sweep at the Northeast 10 Conference championship as well. Full results for both races can be viewed at the links above.
The team concludes the cross country season and will begin preparing for the indoor track season, slated to begin on Friday, December 5 at the Fastrack National Invite.
