Lehigh, Penn. - The Adelphi University men's and women's cross country programs competed at the 44th Annual Paul Short Run Friday afternoon, coming away with 12 lifetime best finishes from both the 8k and 6k events. Both teams posted 16th place finishes in the event.
Nicole Julian was the top-performer on the women's side, finishing 15th overall in a field of 271 competitors, in a 6k and personal-best time of 23:06.6. Next to finish was
Catherine Olsen at 82nd and .5 seconds behind her crossed
Megan Grady, good for 87th in a time of 24:27.6.
Shannon Auletta averaged 6:47.2 through the race and was closely followed by a pair of Panthers,
Kelli Smith and
Beatriz Chavarria who finished within 0.2 seconds of each other.
On the men's side,
Gerard Connelly crossed first for the Brown and Gold, in an 8k-best time of 25:33 to place 62nd overall. The men's field featured over 350 competitors in which the top-five point scorers for Adelphi finished in the top-175.
Michael Grady was 122nd with an average mile pace of 5:14.5, followed by
Jose Velasquez who finished nearly a second later in 26:04.1.
Branden Warders shaved 16 seconds of his PR to finish 167th overall in 26:22.2. Rounding out the top-five and also recording a personal record was Julian DePaz, who finished the 8k event in 26:26.7.
Both teams remain idle in the following weeks as they prepare for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, slated for Oct. 22 at American International College.
