Hopkinton, NH - In its final regular season meet, the Adelphi University women's cross country placed first at the Hopkinton XC Festival, as the men's squad placedd fifth.
Six female Panthers recorded personal best performances, as the crew was led by
Maya Suarez who crossed the tape first in a time of 19:55.93 - also the top Division II competitor. Three other Adelphi harriers finished in the top-15 as
Lucia Kutner (8th),
Christina Sakellis (9th) and
Caleigh Hopkins (11th) were all under the 20:25 mark for the 5K race.
The field featured more than just Division II institutions, as the Cats topped Albany and Babson with Saint Anselm coming in at fourth.
On the men's side, Adelphi came in behind Franklin Pierce among D2 at fifth overall, taking placement behind Babson and Albany. Rookie Maxwell Krapf came in first for the Brown and Gold, shaving 18 seconds off his previous 8K time - clocking in at 26:15.0 to placed 10th in the field. Finishing just outside the top-25 for Adelphi was senior captain Chris Leonard, who used a 26:32.3 time (average 5:20.3) to come in 26th.
Deven Bernardin went 26:52.5 in the 8K event to come in at 34th - shaving over a minute and a half off his season starting time at the LIU Fall Festival.
The cross country program will now prepare for the 2025 Northeast 10 Conference Championship meet, set for Sunday, October 26. The women's 6K (11:00 AM) and men's 8K (12:15 PM) will take place on the campus of Saint Anselm College.
