Cross Country Competes at Northeast-10 Championships

Westfield, Mass. - After a fall season of preparation, the Adelphi University men's and women's cross country programs took to Stanley Park for the 2017 Northeast-10 Cross Country Championships Sunday morning.

After being selected fourth and seventh in the coaches' poll, respectively, the men placed fourth and the women took home tenth place. The Stonehill Skyhawks took home both men's and women's titles Sunday afternoon at the championship race, hosted by American International College.

Top-finisher for the men was Michael Grady, who posted an 8K time of 25:32.33 to place 11th overall out of a field of 150 competitors. For his performance, he was named NE10 Second Team All-Conference.

The squad averaged 26:14.79 and totaled 135 points to finish fourth behind Stonehill (44), American International (46) and Southern New Hampshire (105). Also placing in the top-25 was Gerard Connelly with a 3:15.2 1k pace which landed him 23rd overall.

On the women's side, Nicole Julian finished the 6k event in a time of 22:39.55 to land 16th in a field of 141 racers. Her 27 second PR awarded her NE10 Third Team All-Conference accolades.

Also appearing in the top-50 was Megan Grady who completed the race in 23:56.13 to place 49th overall. The women's team averaged 24:26.71 and beat out five other teams to finish 10th as a program.
