Easton, Mass. - Two top-10 finishes helped the Adelphi University men's cross country team claim second place at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational 8k course to open the season while the women finished in seventh place during the 5k race.

The Panther men averaged a time of 26:44 to earn the silver finish as Sean Grady led the group with a clocking of 26:25.2 to claim eight place overall. Sean's younger brother, Michael Grady, also posted within the top-10 by finishing 10th exactly at 26:31.2. Michael Scott and Gerard Connelly finished nearly back-to-back in 17th and 19th with respective times of 26:51.2 and 26:54.3.

Jose Velasquez became the fifth member of the Brown and Gold across the finish at 27:00.9 for 23rd overall. Anthony Coccia and Branden Warders rounded out the scoring for Adelphi as Coccia claimed 27th behind a time of 27:11.9 while a 27:13.9 time landed Warders in 29th.

Nicole Julian led the women's effort with a 17th place finish in her rookie debut behind a time of 19:46.6. Nicole Elarde was the next to finish her 5k at 20:26.9 for 35th place. Stefani Ritter recorded a 20:41.9 time for 40th followed directly in 41st by Brianna Delzell at 20:45.7.

In her cross country debut, Gabriela Saltos become the fifth Panther across the line, earning 56th a time of 21:12.9 while Taylor Velez finished less than a second behind at 21:13.3 for 57th. Roey Mappa rounded out the scoring in 60th place and a time of 21:21.5.

Looking ahead, the Brown and Gold return to meet competition on Saturday, September 17th for the Bruce Kirsch Cup hosted by Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H.

Notes:
- Today's meet was a preview meet for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship to be held on Saturday, October 22.
- The host Skyhawks claimed first place in the men's and women's races.
