Garden City, N.Y. - After the start of conference championships this past week,
Elizabeth Kallenberg of the Adelphi University women's tennis team and
Jose Velasquez of men's cross country have been named MetLife's Legacy Advisors Players of the Week following their Northeast-10 Conference Championship performances.
Kallenberg helped the women's tennis team to a program first NE-10 Championship this past Sunday, earning MVP honors.
Her MVP selection stemmed from a 3-1 record over the two matches, as she clinched Adelphi's semifinal victory on Friday with a three-set win in singles, before putting the Brown and Gold ahead for good in the championship on Sunday.Velasquez was named an All-Conference Third Team selection after placing 15th at the Championship Meet this past Sunday. The sophomore ran a 25:55.3 to cover the 8k course.
The women's tennis team returns this spring with the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament while the cross country program returns Sunday, November 8 for the NCAA East Regional meet starting at 11:00 am in Hopkinton, N.H.
