Box Score Syracuse, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team traveled to Syracuse, New York on Wednesday, February 5 to tip-off against upstate New York's LeMoyne College. The Panthers forced the Dolphins into 17 turnovers, but could not turn them into points, falling 69-56. The loss drops Adelphi to 4-17 overall and 2-13 in the Northeast-10, while LeMoyne improves to 13-8 and 10-5 in conference action.
Duane Morgan led the Panther attack with 21 points on 7-15 shooting and chipped in six rebounds, while
Ethan Hamlet scored a career-high 11 points off the board.
Ryan DeNicola and
Edward Sullivan added seven points each and DeNicola also pulled down eight misses.
Adelphi's only lead of the contest came on the first bucket of the game, a triple from Sullivan. The Dolphins would take control from there, building a double-digit lead over the next 11 minutes, resulting in a 25-15 LeMoyne lead with 8:53 remaining in the half. However, the Panthers pulled within just two points, thanks to a 10-2 run that was capped by an
Anthony Libroia jumper with 5:30 left, 27-25, before entering the locker room trailing eight, 33-25.
The Dolphins opened the second half with five straight points, pushing their advantage to 13 points, 38-25. LeMoyne kept the pressure on Adelphi, taking their largest lead of the game, 63-41, with just 7:02 left in the contest. Unfortunately, the Panthers could get no closer then 13 points, which was the final margin in the loss, 69-56, created by a Morgan made free throw with six seconds left.
