Men's Basketball Ousted by the Owls, 78-64.

The Panthers knotted the game with 11:48 tp play but could not get over the hump.

Ryan DeNicola had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Garden City, NY- The Adelphi University men's basketball team played host to the Southern Connecticut State University Owls in a Northeast-10 contest on Saturday, February 15. The Panthers trailed at the half, 33-28, but fought back, knotting the score with 11:54 to play before losing a physical game,  78-64 Saturday at the Center for Recreation and Sport. The Panthers fall to 5-18 and 3-14 in NE-10 conference play., while the Owls improve to 21-2 and 14-3.

The Panthers were led in the first half by Duane Morgan, who scored 11 of Adelphi's 28 points on 4 of 11 shooting and pulled down six rebounds. Morgan would finish the game with  19 points, and grab 12 misses. Also in double figures for the Brown and Gold were Anthony Libroia, with 10 points  and seven assists in 39 minutes, along with classmate Ryan DeNicola, who netted 15 points on 6-12 shooting to pair with 12 rebounds.

The Panthers would trail the Owls by ten points, 29-19, at the 4:30 mark of the first half, an Anthony Libroia triple sparked a 9-5, half closing spurt, that was capped by a Morgan lay-up. Sending Adelphi into the locker room trailing by just five, 33-28.

Halftime could not cool the Panthers off, as the Brown and Gold opend the second frame with a 7-0 run, that included a dunk by Matthew Citron and gave Adelphi a 35-33 lead with 17:03 to play. In All, Adelphi out scored the Owls, 16-5 over a span of 7:33 to turn a 10 point hole, into a two point lead.

The Panthers would continue to keep the action tight, tying the game at 48 on a Libroia lay-up with 11:54 to play. However, two Michael Mallory free throws put Southern Connecticut up two, 50-48 and sparked a 15-3 Owl run that was capped by two Greg Langston free throws and left Adelphi trailing, 63-51.

Adelphi would get no closer then seven the rest of the way, falling 78-64.
