Men's Basketball Edges American International College, 68-62

The Panthers shot 11-19 from beyond the arc, for a 57 percent three-point field-goal percentage.

Anthony Libroia drained four three-pointers, contributing to his team-high 18 points.

Springfield, Mass. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team traveled to American International College Tuesday evening for a Northeast-10 divisional contest. Shooting over fifty percent from downtown, the Panthers defeated the Yellow Jackets 68-62. AIC falls to 9-15 overall and 6-11 in the conference, while Adelphi sits at 5-17 and 3-13 in league play. 

Pacing the offense in the victory was sophomore Anthony Libroia, who posted a team-high 18 points, shooting 4-7 from downtown. Three other Panthers found themselves in double-figures, as Duane Morgan accounted for 17 and Matthew Citron and Ryan DeNicola chipped in 10 apiece. DeNicola registered his eighth double-double of the season, grabbing 13 boards in the win. 

Four YellowJackets found themselves with double-digit points as Spencer Braithwaite registered a team-high 17 points and added six assists in the loss. Marcus Porter completed his fourth double-double on the season with 12 rebounds and 10 points.

It was AIC that jumped out to a big lead in the first half, and after junior guard Al-Shabazz Jabateh buried a three midway through the half, AIC was up 19-9. Adelphi answered back with several triples of their own from Libroia and points in the paint from DeNicola to go on a 10-2 run and make the score 22-19. 

AIC's Jason Perrier scored five straight points to push the lead back to double digits, 29-19, with 5:23 left in the frame. However, Adelphi again drained some threes, scoring 13 over the final 4:49 to get to within two at the half, ending with a Greg Davis triple,as the Jackets took a 34-32 lead into the locker room.

The second half saw Adelphi use the long ball to take the lead :29 in by Libroia, a lead they would not relinquish for the entire frame, as they shot 6-of-11 from downtown in the period and cleaned up on the glass, out-rebounding the Yellow Jackets 19-12. They built the advantage as large as 16 with 7:34 left and then held on to earn the victory.
