Cuevas, Plotas and Rubenstein All Garner ECAC First Team Honors

Danbury, CT - As announced by the Eastern College Athletic Conference on Thursday, December 18, three members of the Adelphi University field hockey program have earned a spot on the 2014 ECAC Division II All-Star First Team. Midfielder Molly Cuevas, forward Mary Plotas and defender Briana Rubenstein all appear on the first team after finishing the season at 14-6 overall and with their first berth into the NCAA Tournament since 1981.

The San Jose, California native finished this season with 12 goals and 20 assists for a 44-point output and was chosen as a Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference Selection at the conclusion of the season. She was also named to the 2014 NFHCA Division II All-American First Team as well as the Synapse Sports First Team All-America squad. In all of NCAA Division II, Cuevas ranked first in the country for 1.00 assists per game.

Plotas concluded the 2014 campaign with 24 goals and five assists for a team-high 53 points. She ranked fourth in all of NCAA Division II in points per game with 2.57 and third in the country in goals per game (1.14). With six gamewinners under her belt, the Brookeville, Maryland native posted a 72.3 shot-on-goal percentage. She was also named to the Synapse Sports First Team All-America squad earlier this month.

Rubenstein played a pivotal role in anchoring the Adelphi defense in her final season in Brown and Gold. She collected 15, ranking her second in the conference and first in all of NCAA Division II. The Bayport, New York native scored three goals this season, including being 2-2 in penalty strokes, earning her a spot on the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team.
