Colorado Springs, Colo. – Lana Mignon De Wet added another prestigious honor to her resume, being named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) 2025 East Region Player of The Year, the organization announced Thursday.
De Wet helped lead Adelphi to 12 wins and a Northeast 10 semifinal appearance this past season. The Brown and Gold fell just one goal short of advancing to the conference finals, dropping a double-overtime battle to Saint Anselm College.
The midfielder was most recently named to the 2025 NFHCA All-Region First Team after being tabbed the NE10 Player of the Year and earning a First Team All-Conference spot.
De Wet's individual season was nothing short of remarkable, establishing herself as one of the premier scorers in Division II. Starting all 18 games for the Panthers, the South Africa native scored in 11 contests and led the nation in goals per game (2.78). She recorded multiple goals in eight of those 11 outings. Altogether, De Wet tallied 23 goals, tying Newberry College's Emma Westbrook for the NCAA lead.
The junior's second season in the program will be remembered as one of the best in Adelphi field hockey history. She now ranks second all-time in both single-season goals and points, finishing just one goal and two points shy of Mary Plotas' program records set in 2014. De Wet moved into Adelphi's top 10 in career goals (31) and points (72), standing ninth in both categories.
De Wet becomes the first Panther to receive the NFHCA Regional Player of the Year honor since the award's inception in 2010. She is now eligible for the 2025 NFHCA All-American teams, which will be released on Dec. 16.
