Box Score

Waltham, MA – The men's basketball team dropped a 75-51 Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Bentley University earlier this evening. The hosts shot an impressive 48.2 percent from the field while Adelphi struggled from the floor and were unable to create a spark to propel them out of a double digit deficit. With the loss, the Brown and Gold slip to 4-11, 2-7 NE-10 while the Falcons advance to 12-4, 6-4 NE-10.

Sophomore Anthony Libroia and junior Duane Morgan led the way for Adelphi with 13 points apiece with teammate Ryan DeNicola recording his fifth double-double of the season on the strength of 10 points and as many rebounds. Edward Sullivan and Boris Fodouop combined for 11 points and 10 boards on the evening.

For the Falcons, Tyler McFarland posted a game high 19 points on an efficient 7-11 shooting from the field and going 3-6 from behind the arc. Meanwhile, Alex Furness dropped 13 points and Shaq Phelps did his part with 12. Ten Bentley players scored at least two points in the win. Bentley capitalized on 19 Panther turnover opportunities, utilizing the mistakes to their advantage and scoring 23 points off of turnovers and scored over a third of their points in the paint.

It proved to be a one possession game through the opening eight minutes of play as proven by four ties and seven lead changes. However, a made jumper by DeNicola at the 13:59 mark would be the last bucket they would sink in the next six plus minutes as the Panthers went cold missing their next 13 shots and opening the doors for a crippling 14-0 run.

Fodouop stopped the bleeding with a field goal followed by two free throws while Libroia drained a trey and a deuce to make it a manageable seven point game with the score reading 27-20 in favor of the Blue and White. However, the Falcons extended the lead to 12 after five straight unanswered points to end the half.

While Adelphi managed to score 11 points more than the first, and bump up their their field goal percentage, Bentley also caught fire and hit their stride in the second half with a 59.4 shooting percentage from the floor. The result was a Falcon lead that ballooned to as much as 33 points by the middle of the final act. Without a response, the Panthers managed to get within 26 points and closed out the night with a jumper from Greg Davis and two good attempts from the charity stripe from DeNicola.
