Worcester, NH - Earlier this afternoon, the men's basketball team took on the Greyhounds of Assumption College in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. After falling behind by three at the half, the Panthers fell victim to a 41 point Assumption surge in the second which resulted in a 66-53 loss. In defeat, Adelphi moves to 12-13, 5-7 in conference play while the Greyhounds advance to 17-6, 14-5 NE-10.

Anthony Libroia and
Nayquann Mitchell combined for 17 points in the loss.
For Assumption, Tim Beinert led the attack with 16 points while also grabbing 13 boards. Terrance Bobb-Jones and Ronson Quick also scored in the double digits as they combined for 29 points in the win.
Assumption came out firing on all cylinders, putting together a 14-3 run to open the initial 4:30 of the game. Down by 11 early on, the Panthers managed to climb back to within five at 17-12 courtesy of four points by Mitchell. At 7:31 Adelphi found themselves down by just a single bucket and managed to stay within striking distance throughout the rest of the half, heading into halftime down by three at 25-22.
Six straight points by the Greyhounds highlighted the opening three minutes of the second act, putting a nine point margin between them and the guests. Thanks to the efforts of
John Calarco, Simpson and Brown, they came storming back to within two once again at 31-29 with 14:50 left to play.
However, an ensuing 16-2 Assumption run proved fatal to the Panthers as it was enough to hold off Adelphi. With under 10 minutes left in the game, two free throws by Kevin Donahue put the Greyhounds up by 16, their largest lead of the game.
With 3:12 remaining, Adelphi pulled within seven, but would get no closer as the host managed to regain a double-digit cushion and run out the clock.
The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, February 20 when they visit the Setters of Pace University at 7pm.
