Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team played host to Northeast-10 rival, the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday, November 26 in the Center for Recreation and Sports. The Panthers trailed by as much as 15, but pulled to within one with 27 seconds left before falling 65-62. With the loss Adelphi continues to search for it's first win at 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights improve to 5-2 and 3-0.

Anthony Libroia was the lone Panther in double digits with 11 points, while Damon Coleman and Greg Davis chipped in nine each, Coleman also added five assists. Ryan DeNicola had a strong game, scoring seven points (all in the first half) and pulling down a team-high eight rebounds.

The contest was deadlocked at seven all just 2:08 into the action when a Karem Thomas lay-up sent the Golden Knights on a 16-0 run that was capped by a Dominykas Milka lay-up, putting the visitors ahead 23-7 with 12:13 on the clock. Adelphi continued to trail, finding themselves down 15, 33-18 with just 3:55 on the clock when a DeNicola lay-in sparked a 9-0 end of half run and sent the Panthers into the locker room trailing by just six.

St. Rose started the second half in similar fashion to the first, using a 13-5 run to push their advantage back to double digits, 46-33 with 14:51 remaining in the contest. Six minutes later the Brown and Gold were still down by 13, 58-45, but  a 12-0 Adelphi spurt, capped by a Boris Fodouop jumper, cut the St. Rose margin to just one point, 58-57, with 4:32 remaining.

The Golden Knights pushed the lead to five with 1:41 on the clock, 63-58, thanks to a Milka foul shot. However, a Matthew Citron tip-in of a Coleman miss and two Libroia free throws made it a one point game again, 63-62, with just 27 ticks left on the clock. The hosts put Milka back on the line with 19 seconds remaining and he made two to push the margin back to three points, 65-62 and Adelphi mustered just one attempt at a triple in the final seconds, a Fodouop shot that caromed off the iron.
