Franklin Pierce would continue to hold a six point lead at the ten minute mark after a triple from Scott Tavares-Taylor put the visitors up 20-14.
Sean Crawford returned the favor and sank a three of his own to close the deficit to 20-17, but a three-point play by Curtis Christian would put the Ravens back up by six, 23-17.
A three ball from Libroia helped pull the Brown and Gold to within two at 7:08 to trail 25-23 with just over seven minutes left to play. At 5:45, Morgan notched his score his first field goal since the 14:48 mark to pull the Panthers even, 25-25.
Adelphi was unable to find the bottom of the net the rest of the half, going cold over the final five minutes and missing their six attempts from the floor. At the other end, the Ravens would put together an 11-0 run to lead by ten at halftime, 38-28. The visitors shot 51.7% from the field in the half, while the Panthers could only muster a 38.5 shooting percentage.
The Panthers opened the half with 10 unanswered points, starting with two free throws from Simpson and a bucket from Morgan cut the Ravens' lead to 38-32. Another freebie from Simpson pulled the Panthers to within five, 38-33. Later, consecutive layups from Brown would bring the Brown and Gold to within one, 38-37 with 15:46 to go.
Simpson hit two more from the charity stripe to give his team their first lead since midway through the first half. Jean-Guillaume, who has been averaging 14.5 points per contest, sunk his first bucket of the game from down town to regain the lead. Christian and Dick Paul would each hit threes for Franklin Pierce, restoring their lead eight with 11:23 remaining.
Slowly, with efforts from Simpson and Libroia, Adelphi crawled back to within seven, but it was short lived as the NE-10 rival quickly responded and blossomed their cushion to 12; the largest of the game. With time ticking toward the final minutes, the Panthers were forced to foul, giving the visitors opportunities at the charity stripe which they capitalized on, going 6-6 to put the game on ice and seal the deal.
The Panthers will return to action when they host the Falcons of Bentley University on Wednesday, January 23
rd at 7:30 pm.
