Men's Basketball Drops, 66-56 Decision to Bloomfield

The Panthers outscored Bloomfield in the second half, but it was not enough.

Anthony Libroia put up 11 points and pulled down 7 rebounds for Adelphi.
Box Score Bloomfield, NJ - The Adelphi University men's basketball team traveled to Bloomfield, New Jersey on Saturday, November 17 to take on Bloomfield College in a non-conference contest. The Panthers out scored the host Deacons, 33-29 in the second half, but it was not enough to erase a 37-23 halftime deficit and Adelphi fell, 66-56. With the loss the Panthers are now 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Northeast-10.

Bradley Simpson led the Brown and Gold with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Chris Ranglin chipped in 12 points and five rebounds off the bench. Anthony Libroia was the only other Panther in double figures with 11 points, including hitting on three of five three pointers, and he added seven rebounds and a team-high three assists.

Bloomfield opened the game hot, putting 10 points on the board before Adelphi a Sean Crawford triple ended the Panther draught with 16:02 on the clock, 10-3. From there Adelphi would cut the Deacon edge to seven on two more occassions, before a 7-3 late half spurt put the Panthers in a 37-23 halftime hole.

The Deacons continued to pressure Adelphi in the second half and opened up their largest lead, 56-33, with 7:30 to play and continued to lead by 23 at the 6:28 mark. But, the Panthers kept working and a Ranglin made free throw sparked a 23-8 surge that pulled Adelphi to within eight points with 10 seconds to play on Libroia's third three-pointer of the game, 64-56. Unfortunately, two Bloomfield free throws and the clock worked against Adelphi and the Panthers ran out of time, 66-56.

Adelphi returns to the court on Tuesday, November 20 when they play host to the University of New Haven at 7:30 pm in the Center for Recreation and Sports.
