Box Score

Bridgeport, CT – Earlier this afternoon, the men's basketball team closed out their final game of the Bridgeport Tournament with a contest against Goldey-Beacom. After putting in the game's first basket, the Panthers never looked back and powered through to a convincing 68-46 win. With the victory, the Panthers even out their record at 1-1 while Goldey-Beacom slips to 0-2.

Bradley Simpson poured in a game high 18 points to compliment his eight rebounds while teammate RJ Samuels was the only other Panther in double-digit scoring, putting in 10. Duane Morgan and Chris Ranglin each chipped in with eight points while combining for 10 boards.

Marcus Porter led the way for the Lightning with 16 points with teammates Will Williams and AJ Picard doing their part with six apiece.

Simpson put Adelphi on the board first with a back-to-back layup and three point effort. Defensively, the Brown and Gold's tight defense forced their counterparts to miss on seven of their first eight shots through the opening 11 minutes and used it to their advantage to build an 18-3 lead.

The Lightning were cold though the remainder of the half, hitting just 4-22 from the field and  missing on each of their 10 attempts from behind the arc, disabling them to just 14 points by halftime. Meanwhile, the Panthers sank 15-32 from the field while drilling three of four from three point land and doubling up the Lightning with 34 points which was capped by Morgan's six points.

In the second, the Panther cushion would grow to as much as 32 points with just over seven minutes left at the 58-26 mark on the strength of a 21-10 run sparked by a Samuels layup.

The hot shooting continued for Adelphi as they made half of their attempts from the field and a third of their tries from three-point land. On the strength of three blocks, six steals and 16 forced turnovers, the Brown and Gold closed out the contest with ease, taking the 22 point victory to even out their slate and get back on track.

Men's basketball returns to action on Wednesday, November 14 when they open up Northeast-10 Conference action as they host the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University at 7:30 pm.
