Volleyball Silences the Lions, 3-0

The Panthers posted an attack percentage of .250 on the way to their fourth straight win.

Emily Dorko had eight kills and six digs in the win.
The Adelphi University volleyball team played host to local foe Molloy College on Tuesday, September 20 in a non-conference contest. The Panthers hit an outstanding .250, making just 11 total errors during the, 3-0 victory. With the win Adelphi pushes their win streak to four games and improves to, 6-3 while Molloy falls to 3-8. 

Patawe Simms led the offense with nine kills, while Emily Dorko and Colleen Raga chipped in eight and seven respectively. Erika Loomer and Katie Bryson split time at setter, collecting 19 and 12 assists, while both Bree Popham and Alexandra Kahen had seven digs and Dorko added six.

In game one, the Panthers turned an early 3-3 tie, into a 6-3 lead that they would keep the rest of the way, solidifying their hold on the game with a Colleen Raga kill the made the score 20-15. Molloy would get no closer then four the rest of the way, falling 25-20.

Game two saw Adelphi race out to a, 6-1 lead, but the Lions chipped away, pulling to within three at 15-12. However, the Panthers would score six of the next eight points, taking a 21-14 lead on a Molloy attack error. The Brown and Gold would close out game two on an Emily Dorko kill, claiming a 25-18 win.

The third game was a back and forth affair, that saw no lead larger then three points. The Panthers found themselves trailing for the first time all night, 16-15 and were behind by two late, 22-20. But, Adelphi got back-to-back kills from Samantha Rico and Raga to knot the game at 22 and scored three of the final four points to take a 25-23 victory.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, September 24 when they travel to Springfield, Massachusetts to take on Northeast-10 opponent AIC at 1:00 pm.
