Worcester, MA - The men's basketball team took on the Greyhounds of Assumption College earler this afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Tied at halftime, the game remained close down to the wire, but behind lights out shooting in the final 20 minutes, the Panthers managed to come away with the 63-60 win. In victory, Adelphi advances to 5-1, 4-1 NE-10 while the Greyhounds move to 4-3, 3-2 NE-10.

Chris Ranglin had a breakout 23 point performance on the afternoon with Robert Johnson and Bradley Simpson chipping in with 14 and 12 points a piece. The Panthers played well from all over the floor, shooting .479 from the field including a 12-21 second half effort.

Simpson got the Panthers on the board first in the opening minute of the half which featured six score ties and three lead changes. Adelphi began to put some distance on their counterparts when John Calarco's jumper at 13:34 gave his team a five point lead, but it was short lived as Assumption pulled even within the next 1:29 on the strength of a layup by Tim Beinert and a trey from Mike Auriemma.

With just under five minutes remaining, the Panthers again tried to give themselves a cushion when Ranglin sunk a basket from behind the arc to give them a six point upperhand, the highest of the first half. The Greyhounds stormed right back and took the lead on Jimmy Zenevitch's two made freethrows with 50 seconds remaining in the half. Ranglin answered with another bucket to knot the game at 27 by halftime.

The back and forth affair continued until Assumption used a 10-2 run to put Adelphi in a seven point hole just a few ticks past the halfway mark. Coming down the stretch, the Greyhounds controlled the scoreboard and tried to wrap up the game, but Adelphi hung tough and retook the lead with 2:21 left to play.

The Panther's landed three of four attempts from the field in the final minutes to compliment two buckets from the charity stripe, aiding an 8-4 run which ultimately sealed the deal as time expired in their favor.

Adelphi gets back to action on Tuesday, December 6 when they travel to Pleasantivlle, New York to take on the Setters of Pace in a NE-10 contest. Tip off is slated for a 7:30 pm start.
