New Haven, Conn. - In a preview of the 2026 Northeast 10 Outdoor Championship, a pair of records were broken by Adelphi's track and field program, who successfully took on the one-day meet on Friday.
Imani Mudiay and
Madeline Staley were both responsible for breaking Adelphi records at the one-day meet.
Women's Highlights:
- Mudiay wasted no time topping her new record from a week prior, using an attempt of 11.21m in the triple jump on her fourth attempt to set a new mark. She placed third overall in the field and will look to improve the next time she's at SCSU for the NE10 Championship.
- Staley got the golden discus passed to her by assistant coach Kyria Moore, as she went 37.96m on her final toss to place sixth overall. She breaks Moore's record from April 8, 2023 of 37.68m. Lori Melville was one place off from Staley in the finals, throwing 37.05m to placec seventh.
- Kayla Esposito put together a new personal best in the long jump, going 5.38m while also competing in the 100. Shareve Blair did much of the same, clocking in at 12.57 (to finish two spots behind Esposito in the 100), and also jumping a new personal best of 5.41m in the long jump.
- Angelina Arriaga competed in both the 200 and 400 meter races, landing inside the top-10 in the 400 with a time of 1:01.70. Teammate Brianna McGowan was close behind at 1:01.89 to finish eighth.
- Eva Gonzalez topped the 800 field in a time of 2:24.63, leading Sade Davis (fifth) and Krystal Patel (tenth) for the finishers in the top-10. Caleigh Hopkins put on a show in the 1500 meter event, using a 5:04.62 finish to place first overall. Continuing the mid-distance dominance, Christina Sakellis won the 5000 meter race, leading teammates Karen Jackson and Maya Suarez, who finished third and fourth, respectively.
- Lucia Kutner put together her first steeplechase performance, finishing first in a time of 12:45.91, as Natalie Niselson and Erin Lynch both ran their first collegiate steeple event.
Men's Highlights:
- Patrick Conley raced his second time this outdoor season and came away with new personal best finishes in the 200 and the long jump. He clocked in at 23.03 in the former and leaped 5.93m in the long jump to finish 15th.
- Noah Mach and Mosiah Calderon placed sixth and eighth, respectively in the men's 1500, finishing just three seconds apart.
- Rookie Daniel Carsey was responsible for placing in fifth in both the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdle race, in just his second collegiate outings for the events.
- Brady Caroll returned to the steeplechase and posted a new personal best time of 10:16.33 to place first in the field.
- In his season opener, Jabari Holder won the triple jump and is now the top freshman and top mark in the NE10 so far this outdoor season. His third place showing in the long jump also ranks him third overall and is the second freshman behind leader Olive Guzy.
The team will head back to TCNJ to compete at the Lions Invite, starting on Friday, April 24.
