Mudiay Lands New Adelphi TJ Record at All-American Meet

East Stroudsburg, PA - Imani Mudiay got her outdoor season started with a new Adelphi record in the triple jump, as the track and field team officially got underway at the All-American Meet hosted by East Stroudsburg University. 

Women's Highlights: 
  • Mudiay's attempt at 11.14m landed her third overall in the field but this mark leads the Northeast 10 Conference after the weekend's events. She also placed fifth in the long jump, with a 4.96m as her best attempt.
  • Rookies Brooke Bowen, Angelina Arriaga and Brianna McGowan placed third, fourth and sixth, respectively in the 100 meter event, with the leader clocking in at 13.18. 
  • Caleigh Hopkins ran a 2:25.45 in the women's 800 race to finish second overall and was followed by Sade Davis (2:28.99) who placed inside the top-10 at eighth. Hopkins also came in fifth in the field for the 1500 meter event, using a sub-five minute time to boot. 
  • The women's 4x100 relay clocked in at 49.22, which is on record as the fastest time since the 2019 campaign. Arriaga, Bowen, McGowan and Springer put together that race to place first overall.
  • Sayon Keita, Davis, Isabella Baloun and Krystal Patel went 4:24.47 in the 4x400 relay to come in second overall. 
  • Gabrielle Stafford cleared 1.52 meters on her first high jump attempt and ultimately placed fourth amongst competition. She also threw a 37.80m attempt in the javelin for a new collegiate best mark. She PR'd in the 200 (28.59) and also the 100 hurdles (17.72). 
Men's Highlights: 
  • Samuel Gorelik kicked off his outdoor season with a new personal best in the 800 race, clocking in at 1:59.63 (first time sub-two minutes outdoors) to race to a third place finish. Noah Mach and Chris Leonard also placed inside the top-10 for the 800 event. 
  • Leonard doubled-up on his top-10 appearances, using a 4:06.21 in the 1500 meter event to finish third overall. 
  • Ryan Moritz competed in the shot put, discus and hammer throw events, putting up a new PR distance in the latter at 44.19 meters. He was responsible for a 14.03 meter attempt in the shot put that saw him finish sixth. 
  • Nicholas Paul was Adelphi's top finished in the hammer, as a new collegiate best distance of 48.26 meters put him ninth in the field. He also finished with a new PR in the discus at 31.15m. 
The team will compete next at the Wilton Wright Invite on April 10, which stands as a preview meet for the Northeast 10 Conference Championship. Southern Connecticut State will serve as the host site for the league meet, slated to begin on May 1.
