Colorado Springs, Colo. — The Adelphi University field hockey team had two players recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as members of the 2025 Division II Senior Team, announced Thursday morning.
The Panthers earning spots on the list of 36 student-athletes were Katie Dettore and Kelly Johnson.
This honor celebrates competitive excellence, leadership, and lasting impact within a collegiate program. Selections are based on nominations submitted by NFHCA member coaches and reviewed by committees composed entirely of NFHCA members. Seniors are eligible for nomination only once in their careers.
Dettore made an immediate impact in her first year with the Brown and Gold, as head coach Jess Mulhern named her a captain following her transfer from Limestone University. Starting all 18 contests in the midfield for Adelphi, she totaled four goals and two assists, while serving as a key piece of a defensive unit that recorded seven shutouts.
Johnson enjoyed a breakout performance in her final season wearing the Brown and Gold. After transferring from St. Thomas Aquinas before the 2023 season—where she scored six goals for the Spartans—she did not tally more than two goals in either of her first two years in Garden City. During her senior campaign, everything clicked, as she posted a career-high nine goals and added two assists. Five of her goals stood as game-winners, including an overtime strike during the Panthers' postseason run.
Both players were also honored with a video highlight reel featuring each member of the senior team, which can be found here.
