Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Department of Athletics has formally announced the five outstanding individuals who will comprise the 2025 induction class at the 49th Annual Adelphi Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony.

The Adelphi Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1961 to honor former student-athletes, coaches and friends of the University, who have distinguished themselves during their time on campus or thereafter.

The 2025 class of honorees includes Kaitlyn Carter '11, '18 MA , Andrew Coelho '13, '18, Dan DeMilt '93, Brenna Martini '18, MS '20, and Frank Tashman and the 1993 Adelphi University baseball team as this year's Legendary Team.

"We are looking forward to adding this group to our Hall of Fame," said Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation, Danny McCabe. "Each has contributed to the success of their respective teams and we can't wait to celebrate their accomplishments with our Adelphi community."

The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 4 on the campus of Adelphi University, starting at 6:00 p.m. More information is available at the link above.
Andrew Coelho '13, '18 - Cross Country/Track & Field
Andrew Coelho cemented his name in history as the first ever men's individual from Adelphi to qualify for the National Championship in 2010. He went on to make two more appearances on the grandest stage and concluded his career as  a two-time USTFCCCA All-American for cross country and a three-time competitor at the NCAA Division II National Championship meet.

In the Northeast 10, he still holds two top-50 time (all-time) in the 8K at 24:24.75 (8th) and 24:57.7 (35th). He was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection (2010, 2011 & 2012) and picked up Third Team honors in his rookie season. For track and field, he was a gold-medal winner for the men's 4x400 indoor relay of 2011, joined by teammates David DeSalvo, Mychael Fabio, and Theodore Bellear. He won the men's 5,000m run in 2012 in a time of 14:56.87 to earn gold at the outdoor championship meet. Currently, his record in the men's indoor 3,000 still stands at 8:18.99, which he ran in the 2013 season.

He becomes just the tenth cross country and 31st track and field athlete to join the Adelphi Hall of Fame.

Kaitlyn Carter '11, '18 MA - Women's Lacrosse
Kaitlyn Carter established herself as one of the program's standouts through a series of record-setting seasons, as part of a women's lacrosse program that won three National Championships during her time and put up an overall record of 73-2. She was the East Coast Conference and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year following her first season, where she produced 61 points en route to the national semifinal.

In subsequent seasons, Carter's dominance only grew. She earned IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American honors in 2008 and 2009, including a First Team All-American selection in 2009, and was named to multiple All-Region and All-Conference First Teams. She consistently performed on the biggest stages, including standout efforts in NCAA Division II Tournament play — scoring five goals in the 2010 National Championship game and earning All-Tournament recognition. She still ranks inside the top-10 in career goals (9th), game winning goals (3rd) and free-position goals (7th).

Dan DeMilt '93 - Baseball
A special year for Dan DeMilt, he will receive individual induction alongside the history-making squad of 1993, who will be recognized as this year's Legendary Team. DeMilt remains the leader in single season at-bats at the time of induction and appears in the top-10 in several individual career categories, including being fourth in both hits and runs. He is second in run and hits - both from the 1993 season - which led him to being recognized as an ABCA All-American and Northeast Region Player of the Year, among other honors. He was All-Region and All-Conference, following the team's ECAC Championship.

He will be the 23rd baseball student-athlete to be inducted.

Brenna Martini '18, MS '20 - Softball
With no shortage of recognition to her name, Brenna Martini was an offensive force and anchor on the hot corner for Adelphi softball from 2015-2018. She finished her career as the all-time leader in five offensive categories (which still stand today) and appears in the top-10 in four others (out of 10 categories). A three-time NFCA All-American, she helped her team make back-to-back appearances at the Division II Women's College World Series in 2015 and 2016.

The Connecticut native became the first individual softball player to earn Northeast 10 Player of the Year recognition in three consecutive seasons, and added NE10 Woman of the Year and Adelphi Female Athlete of the Year to her extensive resume. Outside the diamond, she was excelling in the classroom, earning -then- College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® recognition in three of her four seasons.

She becomes the second "Martini" to be inducted into Adelphi's Hall of Fame, joining her grandfather Joe Martini, who was a football and track & field athlete who was part of the inaugural class in 1961.

Frank Tashman - Men's Lacrosse
Frank Tashman becomes the 40th men's lacrosse student-athlete to be inducted for the sport, joining several teammates from the program's Division I era. Playing in the 1985 and 1986 seasons, Tashman was named a USILA Third Team All-American during the latter season. He ranks among the top-ten in four different statistical categories during the Division I era. He led the team in scoring with 21 goals during the '85 season and led the team in assists with 28 during the '86 season. He was inducted into the Section VIII Nassau County High School Hall of Fame in 2023.

2025 Legendary Team: 1993 Adelphi Baseball
Over 30 years ago, the Adelphi University baseball team made the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II College World Series. History was first set in motion when the Panthers won their first-ever New York Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship with a 15-8 victory against the College of Saint Rose. The Northeast Region title sent the team to Montgomery, Alabama - specifically to Paterson Field. Despite an opening round loss, the Brown and Gold worked back up through the loser's bracket to appear in the national semifinal. Under legendary Head Coach and Adelphi Athletic Hall of Famer Ron Davies, the Panthers finished that season at 32-17 overall, and placed five players on the NYCAC All-Conference Team, highlighted by Dan DeMilt's ECAC and Northeast Region Player of the Year honor. DeMilt and teammate Dom Gatti were recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association as All-Americans.

In addition to individual inductees and the Legendary Team, former Adelphi swimmer/men's soccer player William Eickelberg '75 and former baseball star Gregory Nerko '70, MA '74 will be bestowed the department's Woodruff Award and Cassell Award, respectively.

The Cassell Award, created in honor of former Adelphi Head Athletic Trainer Frank Cassell, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the Adelphi University Department of Athletics, while the Woodruff Award, a recognition of lifetime achievement in athletics throughout the metropolitan New York area, is presented to salute an ambassador for excellence in coaching, teaching and educating young adults.
