Mansfield, Mass. - Following the upset of the No. 9 ranked Saint Anselm Hawks last Friday, the Adelphi University field hockey team picked up its first Player of the Week honor as announced by the Northeast-10 conference on Monday afternoon.
Graduate student
Kylie Peregoy was named Defensive Player of the Week following a career day with three defensive saves, against the aforementioned Hawks. Peregoy totaled four defensive saves, in a 1-1 week for the Panthers (1-5, 1-0 NE10).
After not being on the roster to start the season, Peregoy is suiting up for the Brown and Gold once again. Since her return, she has played in four games, getting the start in two.
Head coach
Jess Mulhern was very pleased with the defensive back's performance over the last week and she was just as excited to have Peregoy anchor the defensive unit for her fifth year.
"I'm very happy she made the decision to come back. Getting four defensive saves against two top ten opponents was huge for us and the defense."
The Medford, N.Y. native has now increased her career defensive save total to 22, just four behind all-time program leader Briana Rubenstein '15.
Mulhern and the 'Cats are back in action this week under the lights of Motamed Field as they take on Pace University. Game time is set for 7 p.m.. Follow the Panthers on Instagram and X for the latest news and updates.
